UTEP held off Oregon State, 70-63, thanks to 28 points and 10 rebounds from Stefon Jackson in Game #2 of the CBI Championship Series on Wednesday. The series is now tied 1-1 with the deciding Game #3 on Friday night in El Paso, TX (10:00 PM ET, HDNet).

The Miners (23-13) used a 14-2 run to turn a four point deficit into a lead of 54-46 midway through the second half. Jackson's 28 points broke the CBI single-tournament record for points scored (131). The double-double was the ninth of his career. Teammate Arnett Moultrie added 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Roelan Schaftenaar led Oregon State (17-18) with 17 points and eight rebounds.

Miners Make Their Run

A 14-2 run by UTEP has put them in front by a 54-46 score. Stefon Jackson now has 20 points.

Beavers 20 Minutes From CBI Crown

Oregon State leads 35-30 at the break. They finished the half on a 9-2 run. Roeland Schaftenaar has 12 points, Lathen Wallace has added nine points.

Interesting stat of the first half... UTEP has 0 turnovers (???).

Arnett Moultrie has nine points to lead UTEP, but the Miners are really hurt by the fact that Stefon Jackson is 2-for-9 from the field and just six points.

Oregon State is outrebounding UTEP 20-16.

More as the game goes along.

Oregon State With The Lead

The Beavers have led by as many as eight points in the first half. They lead 26-24 with 4:36 left in 1st Half. Schaftenaar has 12 points to lead OSU. Moultrie has nine points for UTEP. Stefon Jackson is just 1-for-6 from the floor.

BTW.. it is a sellout crowd of 12,000 tonight in El Paso. That will make the Beavers really earn it tonight.

UTEP Closing In On Sellout

As of Tuesday afternoon, UTEP had reported over 9,800 tickets sold for Game #2 of the CBI Championship Series between Oregon State and the Miners.

This comes after a great crowd 8,029 for the first game at Oregon State. No doubt, the beavers will have there hands full tonight with a UTEP team that played under their potential and a big UTEP crowd.

Sellout is 12,000 at the Don Haskins Center and UTEP did over 3,000 walkup on the day of the game against Northeastern earlier in the tournament. So a sellout tonight is a definite possibility.

Stay tuned, we will have more as the day moves along.
